Arijit Singh was born on 25th April 1987 to a Punjabi father and Bengali mother at Jiaganj in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Arijit always had a natural inclination towards music since his maternal grandmother, maternal aunt and even mother were trained Indian classical singers. For this reason, the young Arijit had most of his early music training at home, and after growing up received professional training in music.

He has earned 23 awards from 70 nominations so far, with the most number of awards ( nine!) and nominations for the song “Tum Hi Ho”. This song still gives us goosebumps when we listen to it!
